Fossar’s Thanks Day fundraiser went to the Pieta Organization

Fossar Investment Bank’s eighth annual Thanks Day, on 24 November, raised a total of ISK 23.875.312 for the Pieta Organization in Iceland. Haraldur Thordarson, Fossar’s CEO, presented Kristin Olafsdottir, director of the Pieta Organization, with the amount at Fossar’s headquarters in Reykjavik today, Monday, 28 November.

“We are delighted with the growing participation in the event these past years, largely due to the direct contribution to the collection by Fossar’s clients. We are extremely grateful to them for contributing to the fundraiser in this way,” says Haraldur Thordarson, CEO of Fossar Investment Bank. The fundraiser has broken records every year since the beginning. Last year’s collection amounted to over ISK 21.6 million, benefitting Reykjadalur’s Jafningjasetur, and the year before, a fundraiser of ISK 12.6 million ISK went to Gedhjalp.

On Fossar’s Thanks Day, all brokerage fees generated on that day are awarded to a deserving cause, and clients can also contribute by donating directly to the fundraiser. The Thanks Day also enjoys the support of the Nasdaq Iceland stock exchange and the settlement company T Plus. Both waive their respective fees to support the charity. The advertising agency TVIST’s work on the day is also free of charge.

“Pieta’s activities have grown exponentially in recent years, making the need for activities like ours obvious. We thank Fossar and all those who contributed to the fundraiser very much for the initiative,” says Kristin Olafsdottir, director of the Pieta Organization.
