Fossar Markets supports the Children´s Hospital

The 4 million ISK raised on Fossar Markets’ Thanks Day on 25 November will be awarded to the Children’s Hospital in Reykjavik.

On a Charity Day all of Fossar Market’s collected service fees are awarded to a charity previously chosen by the company’s employees. The undertaking is a co-operation between Fossar Markets and its clients. The Charity Day this year also enjoys the support of the Nasdaq Iceland stock exchange and the settlement company T plus. Both waive their fees on the occasion to support the charity.

“We tried this form of charity event for the first-time last year. Now we are stepping it up a bit and plan to establish our Charity Day as an annual event,” says Haraldur Þórðarson, CEO of Fossar Markets.

“Last year we supported Mæðrastyrksnefnd, an association of women that supports those in need, without declaring the event and the day in question in advance. This year we informed our clients about the event the day before.”

Fossar Markets are now sending a letter to those who supported the charity by directing their business to the company on Charity Day, informing them about how much was raised and inviting them to have their company’s name added to the card presented to the local Children’s Hospital when the collection is awarded later this month.

Fossar Markets’ staff each year chooses the charity that is will enjoy the earnings of Charity Day, according to Thordarson. This year there was a consensus to support the Children’s Hospital in Reykjavik, it being an important institution in the community providing specialized health services to children from birth to the age of 18.

“The Children’s Hospital does good work and many, among them Fossar Markets employees, have benefited from that work,” Thordarson says. When deciding on a charity to support notice is also taken of support requests that Fossar Markets regularly receive.
